The
GARDENS at NORTON MEDE
At
Norton Mede we hope our guests will enjoy our large gardens. The front garden
is mostly laid to lawn with ornamental shrubs bordering it. (Predominantly
Hydrangea{Hortensia} which have been there for over fifty years.)
Behind
the house there is a Goldfish pond and flowerbed and adjoining this is a half
acre paddock area where we grow our vegetables. We have three greenhouses
at the top of the paddock. The oldest one was put there about 60 to 70 years
ago and houses a productive vine and loganberry bush. The other two are modern
aluminium ones in which we grow strawberries, herbs and tomatoes plus anything
else we can find room for. When we first came to Norton Mede we planted windbreaks
across the paddock so that there are many sheltered areas both for the plants
and for sitting to enjoy the sunshine, or to have a BBQ.
